Step 1: Gather and ready your materials

Have your glue gun plugged up and have some twine unraveled.

Step 2: Use your ruler to find the center of the cork circle

Put a dot of glue in the center and press the end of the twine into it.

place your heart on the canvas

Step 3: Begin wrapping twine

Wrap around dot and end of twine close together, but not too tight to where they’re on top of each other. You want them beside of each other, not overlapping

You will need to put glue on the cork before wrapping the twine. It’s best to spread it out and make a thin layer of glue so it doesn’t get really clumpy with the twine. You can see it when it dries if it does that

Step 4: Keep wrapping twine

When you get to the edge of the cork you will have to be careful when wrapping and gluing. You want to make sure to cover all of the cork so you can’t see it from the top, but in order to do this you will need to glue beside of the twine and there won’t be any cork under it, so you just need to be extra careful that it doesn’t start going down the side of the cork and is just an extension out of the twine. You want this twine to still be level with the rest of the twine.

Step 5: Cut the end

Once you’re finished, cut the twine and put some glue on the end of it so it doesn’t unravel and kind of tuck the very end of it underneath the edge of the twine. This helps you not see the end, rather than if it was right beside the twine you would see the end.

Step 6: Clean up your coasters

You can scrape some of the dried glue off with your nails or get a toothpick and get some off if you want it cleaner. You can also take the scissors and cut the sprigs off of the twine.

Tips & Tricks

If you get too much glue when you’re wrapping you can try to wipe it off some before it dries and it won’t be as noticeable when you’re finished.

It’s also helpful to lay out a little bit of glue at a time instead of a big area because it’ll probably dry before you get to it and that could contribute to more mess.
