Fruit Fans

Posted on June 1, 2021

Haven’t you heard? Fruit fans are the cutest way for the little ones to stay cool this summer! They’re so fun and easy you can make a different fruit for every day of the week. Take them to the park, to the pool, or to the backyard – they’re perfect for any outdoor occasion.

SUPPLIES & TOOLS

  • Popsicle sticks
  • Markers
  • Colored paper
  • Brads
  • Drill
  • Hot glue gun or Elmer’s glue
  • Pencil

Amazon shopping list for easy ordering! Check it out here.

Step 1: Gather and ready your materials

Decide what fruit you’re going to make and get the markers and paper you need for it. We did watermelon, but you could do strawberry, pineapple, lemon, etc!

Step 2: Drill popsicle sticks

Stack the popsicle sticks on top of each other so that the hole is drilled into the same place on all of them.

place your heart on the canvas

Step 3: Grab markers

Fill in the popsicle sticks the color you need them to be for your fruit!

Step 4: Get a brad

Place the brad in the hole of the popsicle sticks to attach them all together. How big your brad is will determine how many popsicle sticks you can use.

Step 5: Place popsicle sticks and trace

Spread out the popsicle sticks evenly across your paper. Trace your fan according to the spacing of your popsicle sticks.

Step 6: Design your fruit

Draw the pattern in accordance with the fruit you picked

Step 7: Cut out the paper you traced

This paper will be your fan shape.

Step 8: Glue

Glue the popsicle sticks to the back of the fan

Step 9: Fold

Once the glue is dry, take the sticks one at a time and fold them onto the other. Crease the paper as you do this so it doesn’t crease in a different spot later.

All done!

Cool yourself off with your cute fan!
